Mamma Mia!

As a huge fan of the graphic novel, I’m excitedly anticipating the newest addition to the Alan Moore suite of films.  Hopefully, he won’t disown this one like he did V for Vendetta and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.  For the first time a movie trailer  rather than just stills was shown before The Dark Knight. This amazing trailer actually confirms a lot of what people had wondered about how much would be changed from the graphic novel.  From what I saw, the trailer lifts many of the images straight from the pages of the graphic novel and simply makes them a reality.

Hype is a double-edged sword. For entertainment, like movies, the hype can get people out to the theater with high hopes and expectations. Failing to serve on that hype serves to drive let-down audiences away. Rarely does a huge film ever come close to fulfilling the advertising promises and the trailer highlights. Even rarer, but thrilling, is when the film not only meets those expectations, but blows them apart.

This is The Dark Knight.

This is a quick apology for the lack of a Top 30 post this week.  My status is somewhere between traveling sideshow and vagrant, and when went home this week, I left my master list at home – thus preventing me from gracing you with my wonderful opinions and offending you by leaving out your favorite childhood film.  Such is my life, eh?
